Trading Services

Here are some custom pillows that I made for a friend. We traded services! She is a talented photographer and I can operate a sewing machine, so we decided to use our gifts to help one another out! There have been many times that we joked that we couldn't afford our own services, but it works great to trade! Currently I'm not sewing window treatments for a business (I have in the past), but I'm just doing some small jobs for friends.

What trading services have you done with others? It makes so much sense (and dollar sense) to help one another out and use our gifts! By the way, here is my friend's photo website for Miracles Photography!

Change of Plans!

I have had a change of plans this past week. I was going to be busy getting ready for a garage sale, cleaning my sewing room, canning some goodies from our garden and working on some decor projects. However, this all changed a little over a week ago....

I bent over to pick up the Sunday paper, and the next thing I knew, I had a terrible pain go through my back! Yikes! I called for my husband to quick come and help me. So long story short, I have spent a lot of time trying to "relax" and "nurse" my back into shape. I thought I was doing much better, until last night, when I must have "twisted" the wrong way and it brought the pain right back.

So, I finally made an appointment, and hopefully I will find some relief soon. In the mean time I have been trying to take advantage of this "down time". I'm reading a great book, The Fixer Upper by Mary Kay Andrews and I'm working on a meal plan for the fall. Hopefully I will be able to post about this in a few weeks!

Also, two other books that I have been enjoying include the cookbook, More - with - Less by Doris Janzen Longacre and Simple Country Wisdom from Country Living.

Hopefully, I'll be back to normal soon!

Man In The Kitchen!

Does the man in your life spend time in the kitchen? Or maybe I should rephrase the question, "does he know his way around the kitchen?" My husband enjoys making breakfast for our family. His specialty is pancakes!! I am blessed with a husband who enjoys helping out and making his presence in the kitchen!! He is also the grill er in our home and he sports his own grill master cookbooks!

It seems like things have changed over the years. More men are working in the kitchen (and I think they enjoy it). As a kid, I remember my Dad making meatballs. This was his specialty! However, on a recent visit to my parents home, I found it comical that my Dad had no idea where the mixing bowls were located! This was after 40 years of marriage!

What involvement does your husband have in the kitchen?

Here is the recipe for my husband's blueberry pancakes!

2 cups Bisquick (low fat)
1 cup sour cream (low fat)
1/2 cup milk
2 eggs
1 cup blueberries

Our family just loves them! I love the fact that my husband prepares them!
